Description:
The true history of the Douglas SBD Dauntless is more importantly in her deeds rather than her lineage of technical design. Throughout World War II the Dauntless fought in the most famous battles delivering hard punches to the Japanese fleet in the Pacific.
SBD's were on the ground at Pearl Harbor in December of 1941. Three days after Pearl Harbor an SBD sank a Japanese submarine.
By the end of July of 1944 the last of 5,936 Dauntless built had left the factory and entered service to claim her fame as one of World War II's finest aircraft.
